#241 – The Repetitive Storyteller

Everyone does it. When that dramatic event happens in your life, you end up telling the same story to different people–only it’s not really the same story by the eighth time it’s told. Whether consciously or not, the story changes just a bit each time, usually heading in the more dramatic direction. So by the time your friend gets around to telling you about her fight, the “and then she walked out of the room” has turned into “and then the bitch slammed the door and left.” So watch your back, Shakespeare. There’s a new dramatist in town, and this one really doesn’t care if the audience likes the story or not, just as long as she gets to tell it again and again.

And over again.
